How to Include Multicultural Traditions at your Wedding

Multicultural Wedding

Are you planning a multicultural wedding? Would you like to incorporate both partner’s family history and culinary traditions into your wedding menu? In this post I’m going to show you how to include multicultural traditions at your word. And here’s your first tip; try dividing each cuisine type into a section of the room and scatter in tidbits of family tradition and history throughout the tablescapes.

To incorporate culinary tradition into a wedding menu, here are some more ideas on how to do this…

  • Present your guests with 2 menus, the bride’s traditional cuisine on one and the grooms on the other.
  • Have the language in English and their mother language.
  • Look at the presentation of the menu, try and include traditional colours, images, history within the look of the menu if possible.

Use Themes for your Multicultural Wedding

If you wanted to theme your wedding with both of these traditions, you could maybe decorate one half of the room with one tradition and the other half with the other tradition. The entertainment can be included with this, playing different music from each tradition. This can help with bringing both cultures together, to educate and to experience the best of both worlds.

Start with a Blank Canvas for your Multicultural Wedding

You may want to think about starting with a blank canvas such as a marquee to really go to town in decorating and bringing to life the two cultures. Be sensitive if you need to be with certain traditions and be aware that some cultures you may find you will need two separate ceremonies, however, not forgetting it’s the two of you that will be saying your vows and it’s your special day. Planning a wedding can be incredibly stressful, especially if you have never experienced this before and with adding in two different cultures can make it more stressful and challenging, more so when families are involved.

Wedding Day Fashion

Look for modern interpretations of traditional outfits by progressive designers and find ways to blend cultures together. If you must have a certain type/style outfit for the ceremony, FOR E.G shoulders and arms must be covered or its tradition to wear a particular colour for your ceremony, then that is fine but if you did want something daring and different why not have an outfit change for your reception.

Having a Wedding Planner can help take that stress away from you and to help your families to understand how the two cultures can work together. Always ask for help when you need it the most so you can enjoy stress free the most magical, perfect day you have dreamed of.
